And yesterday was just one of those days. I wanted to do so many things, but Fate had other plans. Like my child spilling my coffee all over my keyboard. Ah well, at least I managed to salvage it… hopefully. Yesterday’s card was somewhat ironic given everything that happened:
King of Pentacles
Balancing & Clearing Throat Chakra Tarot Spread
Since the King of Pentacles seems to put me right in my element, I decided it would be an opportune time to test out a spread I found through Pinterest. The spread highlights the throat chakra, which according to my zodiac symbol, is a predominate trait for me. While I pretend to completely understand why that is, even after all my reading, let’s go ahead and take a look at the spread anyway. Here’s the layout:
1. Card To Represent My Throat Chakra – 7 of Swords
To start out, I thought this card in no way fit this spread’s topic. But, as soon as so many Majors started showing up, I came to accept it’s accuracy. There are some who feel the 7 of Swords is also about hidden intentions, often without reason to. In this way, I can understand the card in this spot. The throat chakra controls communication and expression of emotions. Often times, I hide my feelings or don’t communicate them, and when asked why, I have no reason. It simply is how I am.
2. Something I Unconsciously Feel Guilty For That I Must Let Go Of – King of Cups
This card is surprisingly painful, especially after what I just concluded about the 7 of Swords. The King of Cups is actually a representation of suppressed emotions, creative expression, and imagination. Apparently, the King has blocked his natural inclinations in favor of responsibility. What’s really interesting is that I can recognize this in the 7 of Swords, but aren’t exactly sure of it. This does hint at a subconscious problem.
3. A Way I Can Communicate With Others More Effectively – The High Priestess
At my core, I’m drawn to The High Priestess. For the longest time, I thought this was because of a reflection of self. Instead, I have found The High Priestess to stand for the missing half to make a whole. She represents the mysterious side of myself, the elements of my personality that are difficult to understand and share. To better communicate with others, I must try harder to make sense, then, of these difficult traits. In some ways, I think this card is also asking me to communicate more about my religion and its perspective on issues.
4. Good Way To Balance This Chakra – Queen of Wands
When I first looked at this card, my significator, in this spot, I thought it a little odd. How can I balance this by doing what I do naturally? So, I went to the book, Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom to see if anything new stood out to me. There was, in the form of a black cat. The author says this cat guards the Queen of Wands from harm. To me, this symbolizes trust. I must trust life to protect me, in return for investing more of my emotional self in it with others. Sounds kind of strange, but I just feel drawn to that explanation this time.
5. Result Of Balancing This Chakra – 9 of Pentacles
There’s actually a really interesting result, from this reading at least, of balancing the throat chakra. The 9 of Pentacles is actually about how one enjoys the material. This card, is quite positive, symbolizing success, especially in monetary pursuits. But, I also like the layer underneath too. It’s this hidden layer that I think is the most important for clearing the throat chakra, in my case. The 9 of Pentacles is also about discipline or sacrifice, and yet, certainty.
To conclude, I’m surprised by the results of this spread. The Majors shout at me to pay attention, and when I dig deeper, I discover resounding agreement from the cards. What I thought would be just a fun spread, has actually shown me some interesting rooms for improvement. Also, I learned something new about my beloved Queen of Wands. Overall, I might actually look into the rest of the chakra tarot spreads. But, I think doing them all at once might be a bit much. Still, don’t be surprised if I actually do that! What do you think? Do you like this spread?
